WHAT'S IN A NAME?

The Halcyon bird is a kingfisher and said to be the first bird to fly from Noah’s ark after the storm, supposedly receiving the bright colors of orange of the setting sun on its breast and the turquoise and navy blue of the sky on its back. It is considered a symbol of peace, promising prosperity and love. The Greek name for kingfisher is HALCYON. Because these birds build their nests on the sea and raise their newly hatched babies on rafts of fish bones seven days before and seven days after the winter solstice, it is said that the gods always made sure the winds and weather were calm during this period of time. Thus our name, ‘Halcyon Seas’, was born. We embrace the ingrained peace and vibrancy of the halcyon bird on our boat and in our business, and for our clients, we provide the magic and beauty that all transformative experiences share.
